Black Blasted Cross-Cut Zulu
Of all the traditional shapes, the Zulu is one that I’ve come to enjoy the most, and with all of its variations, I would like to explore further. For me, the delicate and elegant flow from button to rim suggests an ethereal quality, such as a wisp of smoke! This is further enhanced by the light and airy texture of the cross-cut blast, dressed in black with a red inner rim and the occasional fleck of red on the grain.
It’s lightweight, tactile, comfortable in the hand and easy to clench. It’s a fairly thin-walled pipe, and as such, it may get a little hot, depending on what and how you smoke!
Made from Italian briar with Japanese Cumberland banding. The stem is SEM LE Italy ebonite with a stainless steel tenon, and the mortise is Delrin-lined.
Please note the photos were taken outside in the cold grey of a February morning, so the colours may look different in other light settings.
